What is the aim of nutritional therapy?
The Margaret Hills clinic uses nutrition to help people recover from all kinds of health problems.
Diet and lifestyle factors are looked at, along with stress and emotional aspects of a person’s health and a comprehensive programme is then tailored to that individual person’s needs.
We aim to promote wellbeing and educate the client to continue good health after they have solved their current problems.
Will I have to change my diet?
It is our belief that your health is very much affected by the food you eat (or don’t eat) so it is definitely a factor that will be looked at. Having said that, we try to make such changes as achievable as possible for the client and make adaptations to suit their lifestyle and tastes.
Are there tests available at the clinic?
Yes. These are recommended on an individual basis but may include:
Food Intolerance Testing – A fingerprick blood test to look at immune reactions to certain foods and food groups.
Stress Test – How your body might be affected by ongoing stress.
Urine test – To screen various body functions
Zinc taste test – To establish Zinc levels, an important mineral with many functions in the body.
Blood Pressure testing
There are many other tests available that may be recommended to you at some point.
All tests performed will also include a consultation where advice and recommendations will be given on how to overcome the problems.
How long is a consultation?
The initial appointment should take 60-90 minutes. This is charged at a fixed rate. Subsequent appointments vary in length and frequency and are set to suit the client. E.g. 15 minute catch up sessions can be arranged or some people prefer a couple of hours.
How many appointments are needed?
Most often at least one follow up appointment will be required, however this may be done as a telephone consultation if necessary.
Occasionally, only the one appointment is needed if only dietary guidance is sought for example. Often though, the problems are complex and have been going on for a long time – for years in many cases, before that person turns to nutritional therapy. We offer support to all our clients long-term should they need to stay on track.
